πŸ“·

Scan or Import

Paper receipts, photos or PDFs

1
Tap Scan receipt

On the Ledger, tap Scan receipt, then Scan receipt to use the camera, Choose from Photos, or Choose a file for a PDF or image from Files (an emailed receipt, for example).

2
Frame the receipt

The camera finds the edges and straightens the page. For a long receipt, scan it in several pages; they are joined into one receipt.

3
Vosiro reads it

The original image is saved first, then read on your iPhone. You'll see "Reading receipt…" for a moment.

πŸ’‘

Flat, well-lit receipts read best. Faded thermal paper may need a few fields fixed by hand.

βœ…

Check & Save

Look it over, fix anything, save

1
Compare with the original

The receipt image is at the top; tap it to zoom. Fields Vosiro isn't sure about say Please verify.

2
Fix and add details

Change the vendor (pick a store from the list as you type), date, amounts, category, payment or receipt number; tap an item to fix it; add notes and tags. Store names like "AABBCC STORE #1234" are matched to one name, AABBCC Store, with a category suggested; rename or merge stores in Settings > Stores. Untick Track in financial ledger to keep the receipt without counting it.

3
Save to ledger

If the receipt looks already saved, Vosiro asks first: View existing, Save anyway, or Don't save.

πŸ“’

Ledger & Search

Every purchase, by month

1
Search

Type a store, an item, a receipt number, a tag, or any text printed on the receipt.

2
Filter

Use the calendar to pick a year and month, or the tag button to show only some tags. The funnel button filters by store, category, card or an amount range; tap Show. Each filter appears as a chip: tap βœ• to remove it, or Clear to remove all.

3
Open a purchase

See the details, items and original receipt. Use the pencil to edit; the original image is never changed. Use Share receipt to send it, for example for a warranty claim, with an optional password.

πŸ›‘οΈ

Warranty & Return Dates

Never miss a deadline

1
Add a date

On a purchase, tap Add warranty or return date, choose the item and the type (Warranty, Return or Other), and the date.

2
See what's coming up

The Expiration screen lists every date, soonest first, with how many days are left.

3
Get reminded

Vosiro reminds you 3 days before a return date and 30 days before a warranty ends, and again on the day, at 9 AM. Turn reminders on or off in Settings > Reminders.

4
Add warranty details

For a warranty, add the Model, Serial number and Notes (for example who to call). They show under the item, and searching the ledger for a serial number finds the purchase.

5
Make a proof of purchase

Tap the clipboard button next to a warranty or return date. Vosiro makes a PDF with the item, model, serial number, store, date and price, followed by the original receipt, ready to email or print for a claim.

↩️

Returns

Refunds linked to what you bought

1
Scan the return receipt

Vosiro recognises a refund and switches on Return (money back), with the refund date.

2
Link it

When saving, Vosiro suggests the original purchase. Tap Link, or Not this one.

3
See the net

The purchase then shows each return, the item marked Returned, and the Net amount you paid.

4
No return receipt?

Open the purchase and tap Mark as returned. Tick what came back (the refund fills in), check the amount and date, and save. The purchase then shows the refund, the Net amount, and Partly returned or Returned in full.

πŸ“Š

Reports & Export

Where your money goes

1
Open Reports

Spending by month, category and store for any year, compared with the same part of last year. Tap a number to see the receipts behind it.

2
Export

Choose a PDF report or a CSV spreadsheet for a year or all years, then send it with the Share sheet. A PDF can be locked with a password.

πŸ’¬

Ask Your Receipts

Questions in plain words

1
Ask

Tap the question button and type, for example: "What can I still return?", "Warranties expiring soon", or "Biggest purchase last year".

2
Get an answer from your ledger

Answers are worked out from your own receipts, on your iPhone. On devices with Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model helps understand the question.

πŸ”

Backup

Encrypted on your iPhone first

1
Choose a folder

Settings > Backup & Sync > Folder. A folder in iCloud Drive works well.

2
Choose a backup passphrase

At least 10 characters, not only numbers. Four random words make a strong one. It is not your App Lock PIN.

3
Let it sync

Vosiro backs up and syncs on its own: when you open it, after you add or change a receipt, and every few minutes while it is open. To do it straight away, tap the sync button at the top of the Ledger. The count in Settings shows what is backed up and what is waiting.

4
Optional: add a recovery key

Settings > Backup Security > Recovery key creates a second, long key, shown once. From then on, opening your backup on another device needs both your passphrase and this key; one alone is not enough. It protects you if someone gets a copy of your backup folder and also knows or guesses your passphrase. Devices already connected keep syncing without it.

5
Check your backup

Settings > Backup & Sync > Check backup reads every copy in your backup and compares it with the original. A damaged or missing copy is uploaded again from your phone; afterwards the row says Backup verified βœ“ and the date. Vosiro also re-checks a few copies on its own at each sync, each about once a month.

Keep your backup passphrase, and your recovery key if you add one, safe. Nobody, including us, can open your backup without them. You can change the passphrase in Settings > Backup Security > Change backup passphrase. Despite its name, the recovery key does not recover a forgotten passphrase: it is an extra lock, so losing it can lock you out of your backup on a new device. Most people do not need it.

πŸ’Ύ

Keep on Device

Save space on your iPhone

1
Choose how long original receipts stay

Settings > Backup & Sync > Keep on device: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or Keep All.

2
Older originals move to your backup

The original receipt, a photo or PDF, moves only after its backup copy has been checked. Your ledger, search and reports keep every receipt; an older original downloads when you open it.

πŸ’‘

Want every original receipt on your phone, even offline? Choose Keep All.

πŸ”„

All Your Devices

iPhone, iPad and Mac in step

1
Choose the same folder on each device

Settings > Backup & Sync > Folder, the same iCloud Drive folder, with the same backup passphrase.

2
Everything stays the same

New receipts, edits, deletes, tags, and warranty and return dates reach your other devices on their own. If two devices change the same thing, the newer change wins.

3
Works offline too

Each device keeps working without internet and catches up when it can. Everything goes through your own folder, encrypted; there is no Vosiro account.

πŸ“²

Restore

On a new iPhone

1
Restore from backup

Settings > Restore > Restore from backup, and choose your backup folder. To keep the new device in sync afterwards, also choose the folder in Settings > Backup & Sync.

2
Enter your backup passphrase

And your recovery key, if you added one.

3
Your history is back

Every receipt is searchable straight away; the original receipts download one by one as you open them. Receipts already on the phone are left as they are.

πŸ”’

App Lock

PIN, pattern or Face ID

1
Turn it on

Settings > Privacy & Security > App Lock. Choose a 7-digit PIN, or tap Use pattern instead and connect at least 6 dots. Simple shapes (Z, L, square…) are refused as too easy to guess.

2
Unlock

Face ID is offered when available. Vosiro locks again after a minute away, and receipts are always hidden in the app switcher.

🧹

Possible Duplicates

Find receipts saved twice

1
Look for duplicates

Settings > Clean up > Possible duplicates lists receipts that look like the same purchase: the same photo, the same receipt number at the same store, or the same store, day and total.

2
Keep or remove

Open one to compare or delete it (it goes to Recently Deleted). If they really are different purchases, tap Not duplicates and the group is not shown again.

πŸ—‘οΈ

Recently Deleted

30 days to change your mind

1
Delete

A deleted purchase goes to Settings > Deleted > Recently Deleted.

2
Restore or delete for good

Put it back any time within 30 days. After that, or with Delete now (App Lock needed), it is removed from your phone and your backup.

πŸ’‘

❓

Questions & Answers

Common questions, answered

What does the recovery key do?

It is an optional second lock on your backup. When it is on, opening your backup on another device needs both your backup passphrase and the key; one alone is not enough. It protects you if someone gets a copy of your backup folder and also knows your passphrase. Despite its name, it does not recover a forgotten passphrase, and losing it can lock you out of your backup on a new device. Most people do not need it.

When does the recovery key matter? (lost phone, new phone, hacked account)

You lose your phone, or get a new one. To get your receipts onto the new phone you need your backup passphrase, and, if the recovery key is on, the key too. Without the key the backup cannot be opened. If another device (your iPad or Mac) is still connected, it keeps working, and from it you can turn the key off or start a new backup.

Someone gets into your iCloud and knows your passphrase. With the key on, they still cannot open your backup. This is what the key is for.

Someone has your phone. The key does not help here; App Lock does. Turn on App Lock (Settings > Privacy & Security) so nobody can open Vosiro on your phone.

You forget your passphrase. The key does not help: it is needed together with the passphrase, never instead of it.

You lose the key. If the device where you added it still works, turn the key off there (it does not ask for the key) and add a new one. If no device has it any more, the backup cannot be opened on a new phone.

So: keep the key with your passphrase, for example in a password manager. If you would rather not keep two things safe, leave it off; a strong passphrase already protects your backup.

Do my devices need the recovery key to keep syncing?

No. Devices already connected to your backup folder keep syncing whether the key is on or off. Only a new or reset device, or a restore, asks for it.

How do I check that my recovery key works?

On a device where you did not add the key (the device where you added it keeps a copy and never asks): check that Settings > Deleted > Recently Deleted is empty, then go to Settings > Restore > Restore from backup, choose your backup folder, and enter your passphrase. When it asks for the recovery key, type it. If it goes on, the key works: every receipt is already there, so nothing changes. A wrong key is refused and nothing changes.

How do I reset or turn off the recovery key?

Settings > Backup Security > Recovery key > Turn off, and enter your backup passphrase (another device also asks for the key). Your backup then opens with the passphrase alone. For a new key, tap Recovery key again and follow the steps; the old key stops working.

How do I know my backup is OK?

Settings > Backup & Sync > Check backup. It reads every copy and compares it with the original; when all is well the row shows Backup verified βœ“ and the date. If a copy is damaged and the receipt is still on your phone, it is uploaded again. Some copies may say they are still downloading from iCloud: run the check again later.

I returned something but have no return receipt.

Open the purchase and tap Mark as returned: choose the items, the amount refunded and the date. Reports then count only what you kept.

How do I contact you, or rate Vosiro?

Settings > About: Support writes to support@vosiro.com, and Rate Vosiro opens the App Store review page.

I forgot my backup passphrase. Can you recover it?

No. Your backup is encrypted on your device and nobody, including us, can open it without the passphrase (and the recovery key, if it is on). Devices already connected keep working: you can start a new backup folder from one of them in Settings > Backup & Sync.

How do I move my backup to another folder?

First, on every device, tap Sync now in Settings > Backup & Sync and wait for Waiting: 0. Then, on one device: Folder > Disconnect, tap Folder again, choose the new folder and set its passphrase. Original receipts (photos and PDFs) that are only in the old folder are copied over; Settings shows Only in old folder until that is done. On each other device, Disconnect and choose the same new folder. Keep the old folder until every device has moved; it also keeps your previous daily backups.

Should I delete and reinstall Vosiro to fix a problem?

Usually not. Deleting the app erases what is stored on that device, including receipts not yet backed up and your settings. Updating keeps everything. If you do reinstall, first tap Sync now and wait for Waiting: 0, and make sure you know your backup passphrase; afterwards, choose the same backup folder to get your receipts back. On a Mac, removing the app keeps its data, so a reinstall finds everything again.

I added a receipt on my iPhone. When will it be on my Mac?

Within a few minutes while both apps are open; Vosiro syncs on its own, and you can tap the sync button at the top of the Ledger to do it straight away. Both devices must use the same backup folder.

What happens when I reach 10 receipts on the free version?

Nothing is locked or removed: you can still view, edit, search, sync, back up, export and delete every receipt. Adding the 11th receipt offers Vosiro Pro. Deleting receipts below 10 also lets you add new ones.

I bought Vosiro Pro. How do I get it on my other devices?

Pro belongs to your Apple Account. On a device signed in to the same Apple Account, open Settings > Vosiro Pro > Restore Purchases. To cancel, go to your Apple Account's Subscriptions.

My unlock pattern says “Wrong pattern”.

Draw slowly and watch the line: passing over an extra dot changes the pattern. After several wrong tries Vosiro asks you to wait a little before trying again. Face ID still works if it is on.
